Floral Print

Floral Print

Every year around this time, floral prints start to emerge on the fashion scene. It seems as if when warmer weather begins to hit, the need to “lighten up” our style comes along with it. Most of us start highlighting our hair, wearing pastels, and embracing a girlier, more feminine aesthetic. Floral prints are a great incarnation of this feminine spring style, and lucky for us, they’re super trendy!
Whether you choose a floral print dress, leggings, or a pretty floral top, there are plenty of opportunities to add some flower power to your spring look. This guide will show you how!

Pick a size. We’ve all seen traditional “ditsy” floral print–dainty, feminine, and totally classic. While this look will continue to be popular, this season you can also expect to see a more contemporary take–large, statement-making graphic florals, on tops and dresses. Middle-of-the-road kind of girl? Mid-range floral might be your thing! Expect to see medium-sized floral prints on leggings and patterned tights.

Make a statement. Floral print accessories are a great way to try the floral print trend as seasons transition. A floral print umbrella or pair of shoes will brighten up your day without looking over-the-top. If you’re wary of this trend, try incorporating it into your outfit in a statement accessory piece–you’ll make an impact, but it will still be subtle!

Enjoy, xoxo!!!

Mullet

The “mullet skirt” is the perfect alternative to the maxi trend.  High/low short/long whatever you want to call it, the skirt looks like a mullet and can be worn a few different ways. You can wear the short part in the front with a pair booties to show off your legs or  wear the skirt sideways which creates more of a diagonal asymmetrical look. Also can be wear day or night. The “mullet skirt” is definitely a trend to watch during the fall season and I have a feeling you will be seeing it a lot more during the spring. This is a piece that you need in your wardrobe.

Animal Print

Animal  print never goes out of fashion. In fact, every season and every year, people parrot, “Animal print is on trend!”. Every fashionista must own at least a piece of this print be it a dress, a top, a pair of shoes, a scarf or a bag. The question therefore is – how do you make it right?

Don't match if it's large

Matching colors and prints is very common in styling. However, not only does going too matchy creates a trying hard kind’a obsolete way of styling, it’s considered a big NAY when it comes to animal prints. Choose only one large part of your outfit that’s wild. For instance, if your top is a leopard/tiger/zebra print, let the tights/skirt/pants be non-animal. If it’s your dress that has the print, then let your shoes be plain black or nude. A touch of the same print on your footwear only works when the black, beige or white shade is dominant.

Tone it down

If your outfit is too wild, tone it down. If you wear an animal print mini dress, you can tone it down by wearing a single-colored-cardigan over your dress in color that blends well with your wild print. If you wear a leopard print tights, for example, you can tone it down by wearing a knee-length boots in color palette that blends but suppresses the strongest shade of your animal print. You can also decide for the color of your boots by taking a non-dominant shade from your other accessories. Again. in shades that complement your animal print.

Also you would never go wrong if you take only a single item of animal print, either for your top, bag, shoes or scarf, while the rest of your outfit is entirely neutrals.
